What is FCCLA?

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a dynamic and effective student organization that helps students become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences Education. FCCLA is unique among student organizations because its programs are planned and run by students. It is the only student organization with THE FAMILY as its central focus. Participation in state/national programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers and communities.

Established in 1945

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America started out in 1945 in Reston, Virginia as the Future Homemakers of America (FHA).  Throughout the years, our organization has evolved and changed to keep up with our changing society.  However, we are still the only student organization with family as its central focus.

Our MISSION

To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

Student Testimonials

"I think FCCLA had a positive effect on me, because I noticed how much more confident I became when talking to people I didn't know. FCCLA also had an impact on me, by teaching me how to be more professional around adults in the real world while still being a high school student." - Alice Brito

"FCCLA was the perfect outlet for me to experiment with new project ideas while also being in a competitive setting. My time with the club has taught me so much about interpersonal communication, professional speaking, and, most of all, teamwork and sportsmanship. The experiences that I have had with FCCLA have definitely polished my confidence and my presentation skills. I am forever thankful that my high school experience was elevated by being in an organization as strong as FCCLA with the best peers and advisors by my side!"- Sannidhi Koganti
